Awfully chocolate was started with one mission, and one mission only: selling just one cake, a plain dark dark chocolate cake which was rich in flavor yet moist and light. They wanted to bring back chocolate cake in its most authentic form. A simple dark chocolate cake between layers of dark chocolate fudge. Something not too sweet yet keeps you wanting more. From selling only three types of dark chocolate cake, it has expanded its menu to various kinds of desserts and cakes. A humble shop located in Katong back in 1998, has now become Singapore’s well-loved, familiar household name, chain of chocolate shops. Even as their popularity increases, they insist on handcrafting all their products and do not try to follow trends, which as we all know, is volatile and ever-changing. They stick to what they know best and this is how they have managed to stay at one of the top spots of Singaporean’s well-loved dessert chains in Singapore and recently started cake delivery Singapore.
Handmade Daily
Even as they continue growing and expanding the business through various dining concepts, handmade chocolate gifting & travel lines, Awfully Chocolate has continued to make their desserts by scratch and hand make them daily to ensure quality and consistency for their customers. Their artisanal products are made not to only taste good, but look good as well. Their desserts displayed in the beautiful window of the shop that are handmade daily with love makes you stop and just admire their beauty before you realise you definitely need to step in to get a taste. Do it, we promise you won’t regret it.
Quality and Consistency
As compared to other dessert stores, Awfully Chocolate prides themselves on the although limited, but premium quality of dessert line they have to offer. They believe in providing quality and handcrafted products. By using premium ingredients that ensure that their bakes are not only high in quality, but consistent in taste and appearance as well. They aim to achieve customer satisfaction through the quality and consistency of their fresh bakes.
Best Sellers
Chocolate Praline Cake
The chocolate praline cake is a heavenly sin you would want to indulge in everyday. Looks simple, and tastes really good. The chocolate melts in your mouth, tantalising your tastebuds and is an explosive adventure in your mouth. This beautifully elegant cake has dark chocolate cake with praline hazelnut and lightly crunchy feuilletine. It remains a bestseller at Awfully Chocolate due to its pure chocolate goodness.
Caramel Brittle and Sea Salt Chocolate Cake
Although the saltiness of the sea salt was not as patent as we’d prefer, the intense flavour of chocolate and fudgy texture made up for it. The natural high of sea salt combined with caramel is beautifully mixed with 60% dark chocolate ganache with layers of soft chocolate cake. The morsels of caramel brittle and rich salted caramel adds a whole new element to the gorgeously created cake.
Super Stacked Chocolate Cake
Their Super Stacked Chocolate Cake is inspired by the traditional Southeast Asian Lapis Cake that is dear to many Singaporeans. It’s much denser and richer than the All Chocolate, so much so that you need only a few forks to fulfil even the greatest chocolate cravings. That’s probably why they only sell it in slices at the store. However, if you’re feeling for a chocolate overload, it is also available in a full cake which would definitely hit the spot.
Original Cakes
You can’t go to Awfully Chocolate and not try their original cakes. That was and still is their main selling point, the reason behind their success. Their dark chocolate multi-layer cake just melts in your mouth. It is really hard to avoid the multi-layered dark chocolate cake with its alternative layers of cake and chocolate.
Super rich, moist and not too sweet, their original cakes offer various different options to choose from. The All Chocolate Cake and Chocolate Banana Cake are the best-sellers so if you’re not sure what to go for, these are the ones you should definitely try first. They also have a Chocolate Rum and Cherry Cake for those who might prefer to try something different.
Nine Thirty by Awfully Chocolate
With all the success and being loved by so many from the Awfully Chocolate stores, they have managed to open a flagship store known as ‘NineThirty by Awfully Chocolate.’ The flagship store offers a contemporary selection of comfort food loved by many and of course, not missing out on everyone’s favorite Awfully Chocolate desserts. The food options at NineThirty, just like Awfully Chocolate, follows a philosophy of incorporating fresh ingredients and handmade elements. You can make a booking via their website or Chope.
Ambience
The stores typically follow a minimalistic, sleek and uncluttered layout, offering a sense of space and simplicity to customers. There’s something very inviting about Awfully Chocolate stores that make you want to enter and see what they have to offer. It is to demonstrate to our customers that they are not walking into a traditional cake store, that the items they purchase are distinctive and unique. An interesting thing to note about Awfully Chocolate chains are that no two shops are alike and each of them has its own special features. As quoted from their website, their “design philosophy is to stand out, not stick out.” You can spot many people just basking in each other’s company over decadent desserts and drinks. It’s also a great place to be productive and get some work done. Who says you can’t mix business and pleasure?
